tgloersen Posted April 7, 2019 #2 Share Posted April 7, 2019 I was on Bliss at the end of November. I saw $5 tables with a bonus play for a total of $6. Problem though is BJ's are paid at 6 to 5.

marktwothousand Posted April 8, 2019 #4 Share Posted April 8, 2019 If there are any tables at the casino that are too high and have no customers, and, if it isn't night-time, you can sometimes ask the casino manager to lower the minimum and they may do it for you until about 6 PM. Krisco Posted April 8, 2019 #5 Share Posted April 8, 2019 Was on the Bliss in February and the only $5 were at night and in the smoking section. They also had a $5 3 card poker table. We toughed it out as most smokers were pretty conscientious as could see we don't smoke so it was not too bad.

The biggest problem with that is that a blackjack pays 6:5 rather than the usual 3:2. That is a huge disadvantage to the player. Secondly, if you got a $6 blackjack, they are not going to break a dollar so you are likely to be paid just $6 making that blackjack an even worse proposition. I love to play blackjack and will never play 6:5 blackjack tables.
ema773 Posted April 17, 2019 #8 Share Posted April 17, 2019 We just got off the Bliss Panama Canal cruise. The lowest limit for blackjack was $10. The majority of the time the tables were NOT busy over the 15 days, but the limit was never lowered.
Marciaab Posted April 17, 2019 #9 Share Posted April 17, 2019 Talked to some table dealers during the Bliss cruise. I commented on the lack of players at all the tables no matter what time of day. She said it was normal for the longer cruises. As per $ stakes, I did see some $5 tables. Didn't pay much attention as to whether Black Jack, 3 card or Let it ride as I was enjoying conversations with the ladies and gents trying to maneuver their walkers and a cocktail to the 15 cent a play penny slots. Most of them were delightful.

I agree with you about avoiding 6:5 Blackjack in land-based casinos where you have a choice, but on a ship it's either poor blackjack or even worse slot machines. If you hit a blackjack with a $6 bet, I think they would pay you $6 for the first 5 and then even on the last dollar for a pay-out of $7. Mike Correct, you win $7 for a blackjack on a $6 bet, but because $6 x 6/5 = $7.20 and they don't round up. They do have 25 cent coins that do get used to payout when the winnings are above 25/50/75 cents. The $6 minimum tables are there to allow a $5 bet and the additional $1 on the side bet (Lucky Ladies or whatever the side happens to be on that table).
