Opus One at Crown Grill: Emerald Princess

We saved our credit card "cash back", over many months, and splurged by having a bottle of Opus One, at Crown Grill, on the Emerald's Hawaii cruise last month.  We did this early in the cruise, long before arriving in Hawaii, so that the Opus One experience did not clash with the Hawaii experience.

Without asking for it, the head waiter and our waiter provided a decanter, and they decanted the wine for us.  Such a nice touch!

The most memorable quality about Opus One, I thought, was its smoothness.  I have never encountered such a smooth quality in a wine.  I was so surprised that this was the quality that I admired most.

The food that we had with the Opus One included the Kansas City steak, lamb chops, asparagus, mushrooms, and the Crown Dependence, for dessert.

i had intended this to be a once in a lifetime experience, but it was so much fun, I am thinking we'll have to save up again, someday🙂

PS - the vintage was 2014, for those interested.
