Strange one, John.  Hendrick's is now in the Connoisseurs' Selection list since the introduction of the new packages.  (I used to enjoy Hendricks in YC and/or when we had the Deluxe package.  We have Prem+ booked for our next 2 cruises so I won't have to concern myself about what's included and what isn't  😜).

I know, Bea! It was on the Connoisseurs' list in March, but the Bar Manager seemed surprised it was not available in the YC when I asked him.  He made a call, and I got Hendrick's from both the One Pool bar and the main YC lounge.  Also had it in the wine and cocktail lounge, and no questions asked. It was a $1 difference, so it really didn't matter in the scheme of things to them, I suppose.

We're sailing in the Yacht Club on Seaside at the end of May.  I'm curious about the dress codes in the YC Restaurant, especially in the evenings and on the formal nights.  I have a teenage son and a husband who refuses to wear a tie on vacation, so I'm wondering if nice shorts/pants and collared/polo shirts will be appropriate?

Thanks for your review.  Very helpful!

Supposed to be long pants in the evening, but they weren't too strict about enforcing it on the times we have been on Seaside.  Polo shirts okay anytime, and a collared shirt would be fine on the two formal nights.   You will see about 25-40 percent of the males in ties, and half that again with jackets.  Remember, even though it is a Caribbean cruise, and therefore more casual, Seaside still draws a large European contingent, and they tend to dress a bit more formal as a rule.

On our cruise we were turned away for dinner in the YC restaurant for wearing shorts on the first night. (Still nicely dressed btw).

It was no big deal, we just changed. That seemed to be the only rule they enforced all week. We saw people wearing old jeans, tennis shoes, t shirts and ball caps at dinner. We did have a big laugh one night when a man came into the Topsail lounge wearing shorts and a blue wife-beater type shirt. He only made it halfway up the crystal stairs before he was intercepted and turned away. Im glad they are trying to enforce a dress code. Bottom line is you will fine with a clean pair of long pants and a collared shirt any night for dinner.

I am glad to hear they have brought back the variety to the YC Grill buffet and are now including the lobster tails again.  On our trip in December, it was the same exact food every day with no variation and no lamb chops, shrimp, or lobster.  Hopefully it will stay like this!

We were on Seaside YC in December for 2 weeks.   Awesome service.

Just dress nice for dinner.   There is no real dress code.   I think they recommend slacks for dinner.  We saw only a few men in ties.  Some people enjoy dressing up and that's cool too.  Slacks and nice shirt without holes and you are good to go for dinner.   I wouldn't wear shorts for dinner.

I did wear shorts for lunch/breakfast (which is fantastic BTW).

The captain and officers will be eating up there at a table next to you so don't dress dumpy.

The menu in YC always has standard fall backs if you don't like what's offered that night.  Although we fully enjoyed almost everything on the menu.   Filet mignon was one of them that I had a few times.   As good, if not better than their steak restaurant.  Their pasta is made fresh.   Fresh ravioli..yum.   We mentioned to our waiter that we enjoyed the creme brulee at the seafood restaurant.  The next night, he brought us one from there.   They will bring you anything.   They really mean service.   Get to know your waiter and they will learn your likes.   They try to keep you paired with the same waiter but it's not always possible.   All of them are excellent.   I believe they put their best in YC.

The YC restaurant is small and intimate.  Great views outside.  Just above the lounge so you hear live piano and violin while eating.   The phrase "So Civilized" always comes to mind.   That doesn't mean formal so leave the tie and jacket if you want.

I didn't read in the review above, so I will mention that they have great pizza for room service.   They have different types of pizza.  The mulitcheese or whatever it's called was really good, however, others don't like those exotic cheeses (eg: feta).   I think we tried all their pizza types and loved them all (we were on 2 weeks).

Coffee is all made to order and very good.   It's an Italian line so order a latte.  Yum.

Butlers will bring you anything.   They won't let you wait after you order.  I would order a drink and they would say "Where are you sitting, I'll bring it to you" and bring it.   That was for everything from coffee, margarita to a burger.

At night we asked our butler for a bottle of wine, in our cabin.  He brought it, 2 glasses and poured it before leaving.   So civilized.

For fun, have a "smoke" drink.  The bar outside the specialty restaurants (I think deck 16 outside YC) will make smoke drinks.  It's fun to watch as they smoke up the bar to create cocktails like "Smoke on the water".  Trust me, it's entertaining.

The one take away from the Yacht Club is SERVICE.    They will escort you down to the theatre to the YC reserved section, escort you on/off the ship past other queues.   Service is amazing!   The best part of YC is no cards.   EVERYONE in there is entitled to free everything so they ask what you want and bring it and don't ask to swipe the stupid card that won't charge you anyway.  That's nice.

We asked our room attendant for water.  She made sure we had at least 8 large bottles of water each day.   So civilized.

Honestly, we rarely ventured out of YC.  The rest of the ship seems VERY crowded.  Especially pools.   Entering the yacht club area seems like decompressing from a storm.   This ship is not perfect, but the YC service is.    So civilized.

We were on the same cruise and completely agree with Aloha. Food quality in YC was very good, really enjoyed the lounge musicians. We had Andrei and Brendo for our waiters. They were excellent.

We sailed the Seaside last July in YC and had Andrei and Kailash.  Andrei spoiled us rotten with GREAT service every night!  Sailing again this July in the YC and look forward to seeing him again!

Last summer, I packed exactly 1 pair of khaki slacks and 4 polo shirts. Rotated the shirts each night. After dinner, I would change back into shorts, so the 1 pair of khakis lasted the week just fine.

Good to know.  Thanks for the info.  I definitely appreciate a dress code.   Just want to make sure we pack what we need.
