Mikey0368 Posted April 11, 2019 #1 Share Posted April 11, 2019 We're booked on a Princess cruise that departs Long Beach at 4pm and we plan to fly into Long Beach airport from Las Vegas that morning. I take it we won't have any issues getting a cab or shuttle from the airport to the port? It'll be our first cruise, what time will we be able to board the ship and check in? Thanks. Bruin Steve Posted April 11, 2019 #2 Share Posted April 11, 2019 (edited) Be VERY careful. If it is Princess, it is EXTREMELY unlikely it is cruising out of Long Beach. Princess, especially for embarkation and disembarkation, always cruises out of San Pedro... Los Angeles is a VERY large harbor...and spans multiple cities. Long Beach is on the Eastern edge of the Harbor, San Pedro on the West....The two very different cruise terminals are about 6-7 miles apart. You do NOT want to show up at the wrong one. That said, Long Beach is a very small airport, so, though there might be taxis there, it is never a guarantee. For a shuttle, you may need to reserve in advance...But, really, you best option is to use Uber or Lyft. You'll get the best rate, you won't wait long for a ride and you'll be taken straight from the airport to the port... Just make sure your driver knows it's SAN PEDRO. You'll likely be able to board some time between 11:00 am and noon...and know that, though Princess directs you to the buffet, they do open one of the dining rooms for a nice sit-down lunch! Mikey0368 Posted April 11, 2019 Author #3 Share Posted April 11, 2019 Thanks. It is indeed San Pedro that we leave from.
CruiseMan1970 Posted April 16, 2019 #4 Share Posted April 16, 2019 I agree with the poster above. I would do a Uber/Lift. There is a large lot where they stage outside the airport along with the cabs. I have always seen between 10 and 15 out there, especially on cruise days. Very nice drive over the bridge to the San Pedro cruise terminal. They are actually rebuilding it and it's beautiful.
ATSEAMYLIFE Posted May 21, 2019 #5 Share Posted May 21, 2019 We did UBER from Long Beach airport out to the helipad by the Queen Mary in January. Long Beach airport is nicely small and with no luggage we were at the curb looking for our UBER in less than five minutes. The actual pick up queue for UBER and all car hires is a little disjointed but maybe being our first time it just looked that way. Just make sure to know what your UBER car looks like and keep an eye out to flag it down. There's sort of a center island in front of the terminal where they all seem to park, which is not right next to the sidewalk directly in front of the terminal where you will walk out.
