Majestic Princess Casino not paying out as expected

We sailed on Majestic Princess October 2018 from Sydney to Auckland. The Casino slot machine does not pay out as expected on 3 scattered symbol (see screen shot). I contacted the casino staff and they couldn't explain why. They tested that machine and another machine and none payout for scattered. After getting home, I contacted Princess and was told that casino is operated by Carnival and they will investigate. That was in November 2018 and I still have not had a response. 

Has anyone seen this happen before where the slot machine does not payout?

Out of curiosity, did you happen to check the game rules to see which reels the scatters have to line up on to give you free spins?

Looks like they needed to be on a pay line rather than scattered. Did you take a picture of the rules too? 

 

Edited after looking again. It does say scatter at the top right. The only thing I could think is maybe you needed to bet max to be eligible? Either way, if I'm reading correctly, you should have gotten paid 5 cents. Is the hassle worth a nickel?

As someone who plays this game regularly, the scatters have to be in consecutive columns from left to right. My guess is the pay rules on the game indicate that.

I've never played this game, but played plenty of Dancing Drums and Tree of Wealth which is similar type of game made by the same company. To get the bonus, you have to get the symbol in consecutive columns from left to right in at least the first 3 colums. As you can see in your pic, you did not get a bonus symbol in column #2. Theres nothing wrong with the machine.

I don't understand why the Casino Staff couldn't figure that out by themselves. Instead of actually testing the machine (!), and another one, they could have read the manual, sent an email to the gambling machine company or whatever. IMHO, it's really bad service to have no explanation and just leave it at that.

Thanks for all the responses. I should have read the rules.  Regarding the comment about the symbol having to be in order left to right,  it does not makes sense to me, as that is normal for all symbols. Scatter,  I thought means can be anywhere. But I am a novice...

Just came back 3 days ago from 19 days Majestic Princess from Sydney to Hong Kong.  Spent quite a bit of time in the Casino (13 sea days), to win on this machine you will need to Have the door symbol on 3 consecutive  lane from Left to right!  It was fun to play on this machine,  you win some days and some days loss.  Of course after 13 days, I loss money but had lots of fun time!
