clarets Posted April 16, 2019 #1 Share Posted April 16, 2019 No doubt been asked before and the answers are obvious but..... On board spends awarded to us, will this sum be put on our credit card when we go aboard? Are there lots of hangers in the wardrobes ( balcony on the arcadia ) We are doing the Baltic cruise and intend to take only euro's for excursions is this ok? May be the daftest question of all but do we need to take our passports?

The account will be credited with your onboard credit, and the credit card will be charged with any excess spending over the OBC credit. Plenty of hangers, we've found - but I suppose that depends on how many clothes you're taking. Others can best advise you on Euros in St Petersburg, but they're widely accepted in most places - I always carry a no-fee credit card though for use in shops etc and at ATMs. Passports? Certainly for boarding (and use the online date checkers available on gov.uk to be certain of validity) but normally you'll leave and return to the ship using just the ship's boarding card given to you on embarkation. Others will advise you whether passports need to be taken ashore at St Petersburg.
AndyMichelle Posted April 16, 2019 #3 Share Posted April 16, 2019 Let's start with the easy one.. Yes, you do need your passports. Your obc will be on your cruise card when you board. This will be deducted first and when it runs out, you will then be charged to your account. We have always found the hangers to be plentiful, but usually take a couple of spares as don't like the detachable ones on board. We hardly carry any cash as everywhere seems to take cards and cash points are readily available. Most importantly, relax and have a fantastic time. dgs1956 Posted April 17, 2019 #5 Share Posted April 17, 2019 As already said. As far as I know it's unlikely you'll be able to get Rubles for St Petersburg.
Britboys Posted April 17, 2019 #6 Share Posted April 17, 2019 The daily programme that is delivered to your cabin each evening for the next day will confirm whether you need to take your passport ashore with you as it varies from country to country. It is rarely checked, although last time I went to St Petersburg, you did have to present passports to Immigration Control. You might find it useful to take photocopies of the photo page of your passport and keep it with at all times just in case.
pete14 Posted April 17, 2019 #7 Share Posted April 17, 2019 I agree with the posts above but will just add that you can purchase currency for countries you visit onboard using the account system linked to your keycard used for any purchases onboard. Exchange rate is not great but you will probably not use much in ports where it may be needed so this is not a massive problem. Most ports will use the euro, and St. Petersburg are likely to be happy with euros or US dollars but dependent on where you are shopping. Their exchange rate for currency on purchases may not be great either.
