Do they charge extra for the buffet, and the little snack places? This really sounds great, thanks for answering.

None of what i mentioned costs money. There might be some charge for some drinks or something at the sushi place, but I'm not sure about that. The rest is included in the price you paid. That's why everyone gets really fat on cruises. I think it's like a pound day or something. But it's worth it!

Have a great first cruise!

we are on the Conquest on may 21----This will be our 3rd cruise (2nd with Carnival), so far we were booked to go to Grand Cayman all times, haven't seen it yet. Maybe the 3rd time is the charm!! 1st Cruise was with Celebrity, 2nd on Conquest, loved it so much we're going back! Hope we get to swim w/stingrays this time tho!

Good luck on getting onto Grand Cayman. It is a beautiful place and there's nothing like swimming with those stingrays!

We are doing the conquest 4/30/06. First cruise...Monteigo Bay. Do they have a buffet? or do you have to go to dining room all the time? I heard they even charge for bottled water. Any suggestions for off shore excursions? Thanks, sorry that's a lot of questions!

Hey Gerri, We will be on the Conquest leaving 4/30 also. We have 8 in our party and this will be our 3rd cruise with Carnival. Took the Elation in May of 04 and 05. I can answer any questions you have. You can go to the roll call section and find the thread "Conquest 4/30". We have many people going and will all be meeting the first day at sea!

Hey! I hope you had a great vacation! I'll be honeymooning on the Conquest in April. What category cabin were you in? We've sailed twice with Carnival before, in oceanview, but this time were going with a balcony!

What do you reccommend that we MUST do while on the ship or in a certain port?

Is the Conquest the same ol' (super fun & exciting) carnival cruise or was it super special? What makes it different? Sorry if I am asking too many questions.... I'm just crazy excited about our honeymoon cruise.

Thanks in advance! Have a wonderful day!

Hey Curt, we have a party of 8 leaving 4/30, when will you be leaving?

I have been on the Elation twice and I have heard there are a ton more things to do on Conquest. Should be a blast.

We were on the Conquest in November, second time on this ship. There were 7 ships in Grand Caymen including us. Couldn't wait to get back to the ship. They also still have a good bit of damage from Ivan 9-11-04.

The only places that charge for food is the Point Supper Club (you must also have reservations) and the dessert shop by the casino. It sells special coffees and deserts. All of the rest of the food is free.

When are you honeymooning in April? I am honeymooning on Conquest starting on the 16th or April.

What do you recommend for Jamaica and Cozumel? Also, any suggestions on what might be the best time to arrive to the boat and parking?

Thanks.

You also might consider the canopy tour. It's a blast. Haven't been since before the Hurricanes but if it's still available it's great.

We are going on our 2nd carnival cruise, this time on the conquest in May. 1st time was on the Elation. It appears that Sunset beach is a better deal then the excursion to Negril. But can someone tell me what Margaritaville is?

Thanks.

CheshyRCat,

I know that is what they say, but i'm telling you, there is a difference. I walked into their rooms and there was a sofa and chair set up in addition to the two beds in the room right across the hall. The only place where you could put a sofa in our room would have been on the bed.

I also believe the inside room are smaller. We were on the Conquest and the kids had an inside cabin. It was much smaller than the outside cabin.

Just a small desk for seating.

The inside cabins on the Fantasy class (Fascination, Sensation, Inspiration) are the same as the outside on those ships. We had 5 in an inside cabin on the Fascination and I could not imagine 5 in an inside on the Conquest. (They don't allow 5 anyway)

According to the cabin sq ft shown in the brochure the cabins vary from 185ft to 220ft.. And yes the inside cabins are in different sizes. As are the outside cabins. Some are smaller and the deluxe are larger.. Also I have seen the inside small/inside deluxe and the oceanview cabins.

Oldvato,

Margaritaville is a restaurant with an attitude. It is on 3 levels with plenty of seating for service. There is also a very fast slide that dumps you from 3 stories up all the way down into the ocean. There are also 2 trampolines in the water with an inflatable tube connecting them. People try to run from one tramp to the other and it's very hard. There's also a hot tub and a good changing area, etc. You don't have to eat or drink to enjoy the place, but that is the idea.

Suzcruise4fun -

The food on this cruise is exceptional. I never really had lunch or dinner at the buffet, but the fish and chips, burgers, pizza and especially the main dining room are AWESOME!

There is still a Mardi Gras party, but I didn't go to it. I live in Houston and drove to the pier.

Bluestorm 19 -

The band outside by the pool was a calypso type band (steel drums, etc), but their music selection was pretty diverse. I don't remember the name of the band, but they were good. They played for about 5 hours a day on sea days.

  • 2 weeks later...
1. The cruise director was a guy named Malcolm. He was the best I have ever had after 7 cruises. Problem is that he was only the director for a week. I believe he is supposed to be the director again for 6 weeks beginning in about a month.

2. Embarkation: We didn't show up until about 1:30pm so it was a breeze. Debarkation: We were some of the last off of the ship and it was around 11:30am.

3. Tendering in Cozumel was OK getting there, but we waited in line to get back on the ship for over an hour. The last tender was to leave at 4pm and I think half of the ship decided to wait until the last tender. It ended up taking 3 tenders to get us back.

We were on the Conquest 1/15/2006 and Malcolm was our CD too! I got the impression it was pretty short term but we liked him. Our Embark was great too.

Ancyan is right! We had a OV Cat 2 cabin, and our friends were on the Riveria deck inside, and the room was much smaller. No couch.
