Icon of the Seas Blocks Are In The House!

You should try a different cruise line or one of the older Royal ships if you're looking to have a more peaceful experience.  The fact of the matter is Royal is trying to position themselves better as a family cruise line and they are definitely pushing hard on that with this new ship class it appears.

I've actually been on all five Oasis class ships and usually have no problems finding areas where you can avoid all the rugrats onboard. I'm reserving judgement on the Icon until I actually see it, but the previews don't have me as excited as I had hoped.  It is also a shame that Royal appears to want to take on Disney for the "family" market, at the expense of their other loyal, older customers... you know, the ones with all the money!

Not major focus, but singular focus on kids, if all the leaked plans are true.  As much as I like Royal and especially Oasis class, this will have a lot of us seriously looking at more Celebrity Edge class cruises in the future.

This is VERY exciting for us young families with kids and who like to have a lot to do/different spaces, etc.  Royal is really stepping it up with this ship!  It's obvious this is a family oriented cruise line/ship so definitely go elsewhere if you want a peaceful cruise I guess.

Did you really think it would not be geared towards young families?  I'm so confused by your responses here.

I get what you're saying, but the Royal Caribbean Group has a cruise line geared more towards adults, Celebrity.  They have status match between Royal Caribbean and Celebrity so loyal customers don't have to loose out on the perks of being long time customers.

When Oasis and Allure first debuted, there wasn't a water slide in sight.  Or the giant purple monstrosity that showed up on Harmony. Or when Royal ditched their association with Universal, so we didn't have to endure Shrek character parades anymore.  So yes, I had hoped there was going to be more of a balance of activities for young and old.  But I can't help that you're confused.

It’s over 10 years since they made their debut. RC has a clear path of evolution for their ships now and they have brands for all demographics.

Except.... while you will get tier matched, you start with 0 points.

So, my Emerald RCL status matches me to Celebrity Select, but I need to earn ALL the points with Celebrity to move up to Celebrity Elite.

Or just achieve Diamond status on RCL...

  • A swim up bar? I cant think of another line with one. What a zoo that area is going to be on sea days. 🙂

The original Star Princess from 1989 (later P&O's Arcadia, Pacific Pearl, and Columbus) had a swim up bar.

From this “leaked preview”, Not sure why but I feel like if the Icon came out first, I would be more impressed with the Oasis as being the evolution of the Icon. Again not all the details have come out about the Icon so we shall see if there may be more surprises.

Central Park looks pretty cool, you can see the entrance to the Pearl

Some stuff I didn't post here said it's "sailing from Miami, Florida early 2024"

Also mentions "awe-inspiring screens, robotics, and a dynamic waterfall" in the AquaDome

Thanks. Although, some of these have already been posted a couple of pages back.

All these “sneak” peeks are exciting, thanks everyone for sharing. Can’t wait to find out more tomorrow, and sail on Icon one day. Crown’s Edge, now that looks scary!! 😱 is that a zip line?

Crown’s Edge - Description

‘Dangling high above the ocean, this fear-facing challenge is part skywalk, part ropes course, part thrill-ride and an all-out test of your courage.’

Also mentions that it is 154 foot above sea level! I don’t think I’ll be going anywhere near that! 😂
