tahuus Posted May 2, 2019 #1 Share Posted May 2, 2019 How is the fishing in August? Which port is best? Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway or Seward?
Budget Queen Posted May 2, 2019 #2 Share Posted May 2, 2019 Seward is excellent for Halibut.
mjbraun11 Posted May 2, 2019 #3 Share Posted May 2, 2019 I'm not sure if this relates to the ports you are referring to...but note 2019 IPHC halibut fishing regulations (totally messed up my plans to take my son halibut fishing in Homer as there is no halibut fishing during our time there...) New 2019 Halibut Fishing Regulations from the IPHC Limit of two halibut per day. If taking two one must be 28 inches or smaller. You are allowed a total of 4 charter caught halibut per person per year There will no halibut fishing on Wednesdays all season and no halibut fishing on Tuesdays July 16, 23, 30 and August 6, 13. ute_fan Posted May 2, 2019 #6 Share Posted May 2, 2019 Thanks. We're debating going halibut fishing in Ketchikan so I was curious.
AKfamily Posted May 6, 2019 #7 Share Posted May 6, 2019 Seward will be best. Anywhere closer to the gulf. Juneau is decent, especially in August.
