Athens Riviera or main city?

If you have 48 hours in Athens, would you stay at the riviera or in the main city?

Main city, definitely. If one has ANY interest in history, Athens is wonderful. Not just the Acropolis but the Greek and Roman forums, temples, the Archaeological Museum, ancient cemetery, and more....

 

Stay near the Plaka (I can recommend Athens Gate hotel) or if you want to splurge and like old world luxury and history, the Grande Bretagne is superb.

The Dora Stratou dance theater is worth it, if you are into traditional dances. Greece has a variety of rhythms, dances and music styles and at that show, you can enjoy a lot of them.
