RoperDK Posted May 5, 2019 #26 Share Posted May 5, 2019 We've been disappointed with the dinner buffet options on Carnival for the last several years. They seem to be scaling them down more and more. Know there must be a happy medium between offering fresh tasty hot options and not wasting a bunch of food. We don't do the MDR anymore and used to be totally happy with the buffet. Not so much anymore. We pick and choose and there is always the deli. Would prefer more tasty options. Emphasis on tasty. Quality over quantity. We survive, but other cruise lines do better IMO.

If they are spending the money for the ingredients, it's not that hard to make the food taste good!

We generally use the MDR for dinner unless we just want a pizza or a sandwich from the deli that night. I feel the same. We always cruise with our kids, and when they were younger (they're both teens now) they didn't always want to sit through a long dinner in the MDR. About once every cruise, my wife and I would relent and tell them we could just eat dinner from the buffet. It was always a huge disappointment. I don't think the buffet is very good for lunch either, but there are usually so many others options (Guys, Blue Iguana, sea day BBQ, Mongolian Wok, etc.) that it doesn't matter. I don't think I've gotten a full plate of food from the buffet for lunch in several cruises.
