Platinum tendering

Yes, it is really only of any use if you aren't doing an excursion, as you will be kept with your group if you were doing an excursion.

 

Just be aware that it isn't quite as "priority" as you may assume. All it really means is that you can join the queue for tenders whenever you like, rather than having to reserve a time. You still need to queue and it can still take a while.
