sofsolnanny Posted May 18, 2019 #1 Share Posted May 18, 2019 Hi all, we disembark our ship at Barcelona on 7th July and do not have to check in at the airport until 8pm that night We would like to spend a couple of hours at the beach--but not sure how to get there from port. Has anyone done this.. Thanks in advance.

evandbob Posted May 26, 2019 #4 Share Posted May 26, 2019 The beach area closest to the port and Hotel W was man made, per one of our tour guides. He suggested we go further down the strip in the other direction for "natural sand".
sofsolnanny Posted May 26, 2019 Author #5 Share Posted May 26, 2019 Hi Evandbob, searching for nearest beach to the port- google gives me Barceloneta. Not fussed on the look of this beach at all. It looks very crowded and no sections of loungers and parasols like they have in at other beaches in Spain and Italy. I will research a bit further down the coast I think. Thanks for the reply. hkto Posted May 26, 2019 #6 Share Posted May 26, 2019 Barcelonetta is metro station and neighborhood name. Beach is the same, starting (or ending) at W hotel and stretching to Casino Barcelona. Officially has two names: Barcelonetta and San Sebastian but it's the same stretch. IMHO it's not great, way better beach short train ride away: in either direction from Barcelona. 30 min will get one to Sitges.

Barcelona suffers from overtourism just like Venice and Borcay, and some locals are not ashamed to show their feelings about what they perceive as too many foreigners in their city. You will probably benefit from moving down the sand I bit, wise decision.
