Special hidden places on Navigator

Recommended Posts

This might be a little long but some things to think of...not all my ideas but good info...very bottom list some additional ideas for the Navigator of the Seas...

The first thing you should decide is if you want the proposal to be private or public.

Do you wants this to be an intimate moment, pick a secluded spot, arrange for dinner for two, or pop the question in the privacy of your balcony.
You can choose an intimate moment at the back of the ship. Stating that you two are going to pose for pictures, then get down on one knee, and had new family/friends capture the moment.

If you want something public and dramatic get the cruise line involved, locate the Cruise Director to discuss ideas....one such ideas...The Cruise Director rigged a poolside Mr. Sexy Legs competition so the lucky lady could be a judge, and when you, her future fiancé comes parading out last, you drop to one knee and popped the question...usually catching all of the event on video and the big screen.

Determine the best time and place to make it happen.  It is recommended getting engaged early so you can have the rest of the cruise to celebrate. Or, if you have your heart set on getting engaged on, say, a beach, you can plan ahead for the private island on you itinerary or say if St. Thomas is a port....Magens Bay is breathtaking.

You also have the choice for dinnertime.  In addition to everyone already being dressed up at dinnertime, proposing in the evening allows you to get extra help from the waitstaff in the dining room, you can approach them during the day to "set things in motion" for that special evening.

Reach out to the on board photographer for those after dinner formal photos, there are some fabulous spots to get down on your knee and ask that special person to be yours!

An important thing....Have a game plan for telling friends and family on the when, where and how.  Cell phone reception and internet access can be spotty at sea, so make sure you have a plan for sharing the news with loved ones.

Remember....close friends and family members want find out from you and not Facebook or through the grapevine...so you may want to keep the news to yourselves — and off of, say, Instagram — until you arrive at your disembarkation port and can spread the news from dry land.

Scope out these locations on the Navigator:

Deck 13...The Lime and Coconut Rooftop (maybe NOT during a Peak time)
Deck 12 AFT....behind and below the Flow Rider...usually empty and a great view, early morning for sunrise or late evening for sunset..
Deck 5 BOW...the Observation Deck...access via stairs on Deck 4.
Deck 4 Main Dining Room Stair Case...Speak with Dining room staff to do prior to your formal night seating or suggest a tour of the ship after lunch and before dinner and arrange for all persons traveling to "be there".

I vote for The Lime and Coconut Rooftop during dinner time when it should be very quiet and has a good view down to the resort pool (which would be lit up at that time). Time it right and you may be able to catch a romantic sunset as well.

First of all today is our 23rd anniversary.

I proposed to Marcia in the middle of the dining room on a ship called “ The Norway “

  Yes it was formal night.

Yes I was on one knee.

All I remember is someone running across the dining room with a camera in hand, back then we carried cameras, to confirm it was a proposal. She wanted our picture, total stranger... it’s worked out very nicely ever since.

congratulations, ahead of time.  When is the cruise ?

                                   Marc & Marcia
