Sounds like you booked a guarantee instead of a specific room. Good way to save a few $$, but not good if you really really want to know what cabin you're going to be in well ahead of time. At worst you'll find out at the pier where you're staying.

Three bits of advice:

1) If you have a question about a specific cruiseline, you should post in the forum here dedicated to your cruiseline. Each one handles these things differently, you'll get higher quality information if you post in the "right" forum

2) When asking questions, put some info in the title that might catch someone's eye. With the way the boards have been moving so slowly, folks are going to skip over threads that don't "speak to them".

3) related to both of the above, always identify what cruiseline (and ship and itinerary, if possible) you're asking questions about, as answers will vary depending on where you're going and with whom!

Good luck and enjoy your cruise!

got my cruise docs today but didnt give me the room number or anything... all it says is stateroom guarentee and cat D ????? any one know what this is about?

Whom did you book with? did you tell them you wanted a guarantee or a specific cabin?

Unless you will be happy with ANY cabin in the category you booked or in a higher category then get hold of your TA and get it changed to a specific cabin. First however as someone else said go to the website for your cruisline and click on advance registration or passenger registration etc. you will need to register online anyway, when that page comes up it asks for your booking/reservation number, enter that and the sailing date and ship and it will come up with your current assignment status, it may still say guarantee but it may also have a cabin number listed, if it does check the deck plans and see where it is and if it is ok. If it is not ok then you MAY be able to get it changed, especially if your TA booked a guantee without asking you.
