tring Posted June 10, 2019 #1 Share Posted June 10, 2019 (edited) Read some reviews of Klaipeda and it does not sound like there is much in the town. Considering a P&O excursion that goes to a local village (Village Life in Lithuania), but hoping to spend time in the town afterwards on our own, which looks possible re timing and the tour is supposed to end in the town anyway, so should be able to stay there. Wondering if it is easy to get in/out of the town from the ship - is it walkable? Our other thought is to get the local ferry to the Coronian Peninsula before going into the town. Anyone had experience of this port who could comment on our thoughts? We have a lot of OBC for this cruise, so if we do a guided trip it would be a P&O one, but equally time on our own appeals. AnnieC Posted June 10, 2019 #2 Share Posted June 10, 2019 We went to Klaipeda a couple of weeks ago with Cunard, not P&O, but imagine arrangements are similar and there was a shuttle from the ship to the town - this went over an unmade-up road in an industrial port and would be an unpleasant walk. It's a lovely little place, but beware of the cobblestones, which are everywhere - I'm pretty fit and active, and even I had to be very careful - they are lethal. Sorry, can't help with your other thoughts - we just wandered in the town, and it was delightful.

tring Posted June 11, 2019 Author #4 Share Posted June 11, 2019 Thank you for the replies, both of which are very useful comments. I found a very informative thread on Trip Advisor regards this port, so looks like more to do in the town than we thought.
