Sunshine wifi value vs premium

I will only need wifi for some facebook/messenger and email on Sunshine. I don't think any of their plans supports texting. Does anyone know if I would  do better with premium for this or would value (middle package) be good enough for these couple of things? Thank you!

 Value has always worked fine for facebook/email for me.  I have never tried the premium but haven't noticed any issues on the value plan for basic internet browsing/facebook and emails.  Ihave had it on Sunshine a few times and it worked fine.

No idea about texting.  If your phone is in airplane mode, but you have a wi-fi connection, can you receive and send texts?  I always keep my phone in airplane mode and be sure to turn off everything related to data!  I'm paranoid that I'll get home and have a $400 phone bill!😵

 

If I purchase a plan, it's usually the social since I don't really need to check email.  I can stay in touch with anyone I want to stay in touch with via FB.

 

If you need email, then Value would work.  Of course, this all hinges on whether you have a decent connection on the ship.  There have been cruises where I had no issue anywhere on the ship and others where I couldn't connect even using the internet cafe computers yet the people at the service desk would tell me there was nothing wrong.

 

Not going to purchase anything for my Sunshine to Bermuda sailing in October.  The price has gone up significantly.  Last year on Ecstasy, the price to prepay for Social was only $4/day; for Sunshine, it's $6.80/day.  That's a 70% increase!  No, it isn't a lot of money for the week but I just don't need to have it.  I'd rather waste that $50 or so in the casino where there's teeny chance I'll get something out of it!  I'm sure there are places around Bermuda with free wi-fi.

 

I always give my DD my TA's phone number and the ship's emergency number so that if there's actually an emergency, she can get in touch with me.  Otherwise, I'm on a cruise so don't bother me!
