mrperretti Posted June 21, 2019 #1 Share Posted June 21, 2019 We are cruising for the first time on the Carnival Victory. It does not dock into Cozumel until 12 noon. Will we have enough time to go to Paradise Beach and shop? What time do the shops in town close?
Rare crewsweeper Posted June 21, 2019 #2 Share Posted June 21, 2019 (edited) Paradise Beach will most likely close around 5PM Coz Time. Shops in Puerta Maya, where you'll dock will typically stay open as long as there's a ship at the dock. Downtown shops usually close for long siestas during mid day but then reopen and stay open until around 10PM. Not sure is the smaller kiosks and street vendors stay that late. If you sail before November 4th, Cozumel is 1 hour behind you (year round Eastern Standard Time) Thus based on ship time, Paradise Beach could close around 6PM and shops downtown and the pier around 11PM. mrperretti Posted June 21, 2019 Author #3 Share Posted June 21, 2019 Thank you Crewsweeper! We sail in July. Does that mean we really arrive at 11am Cozumel time?
Rare crewsweeper Posted June 21, 2019 #4 Share Posted June 21, 2019 Yes, 11 A Coz is 12 noon EDT. Which is good for you at PB. Also, when walking out of the port area, take a quick gander at the shops there. As many of the stores in San Miguel have outlets in Puerta Maya, you might save yourself some taxi fare. And while there are excellent places downtown for dinner, absolutely nothing wrong with Pancho's BackYard for good local dishes and powerful margaritas without the drunken party atmosphere of 3 Amigos and Fat Tuesday's
