Cancellation after medical clearance

Can someone who had a health event in May cancel a July cruise using covered medical reasons if his doctor has already cleared him for travel?  Does it just depend on the doctor agreeing to write a letter saying he does not recommend travel? Is the insurance company likely to challenge the claim if the records show he is fit to travel?

Pre-existing conditions is not an issue as far as I know because insurance was purchased at time of deposit.

Our traveling companion (separate cabin and insurance), finds himself in this situation.  His doctors say OK, but he is still waiting to see how he feels in a couple of weeks.

In case anyone is wondering about this, I may have answered my own question.

The policy states that the person must be receiving treatment at the time of cancellation or be so disabled that he that he cannot travel.  It seems that cancellation for medical reasons will not work in this situation - no cash refund.

The issue now is to be sure exactly when the insurance was paid for - at deposit, travel voucher - at final payment, nothing.
