Bob7 Posted June 22, 2019 #1 Share Posted June 22, 2019 We're taking the Celeb ex bus tour Edinburgh On Your Own which says it drops us near the Royal Mile. Does anyone know which spot they use? ... we're trying to plan a walk. Thx.
AmberCascades Posted July 10, 2019 #2 Share Posted July 10, 2019 Great question. No one has the answer? I would like to know as well. Anyone with experience in this?
tartanexile81 Posted July 10, 2019 #3 Share Posted July 10, 2019 It will almost certainly be Waterloo Place at the end of Princes Street. From there it is very easy to get to the hop-on, hop-off stop, the Royal Mile, the (250 year old) New Town and the buses for the Royal yacht, Rosslyn Chapel etc However there are many much cheaper ways of getting into Edinburgh which are pretty easy .Which port are you docking at? Bob7 Posted July 15, 2019 Author #4 Share Posted July 15, 2019 Tartan thx for the tip. We figured there's be some place where all the tour buses hang out. We dock in Greenock, and thought about taking the train. The ship ride is $55 USD. In Edinburgh we're going to do the Holyrood Park trails to the summit crags. I'll be docking at Newhaven Sept. 2020 on Norwegian Star...looking for good way to get to the Castle and from there we plan to walk. Thank you to anyone who has info...most info I'm seeing is from Queensferry.
tartanexile81 Posted October 28, 2019 #6 Share Posted October 28, 2019 There's not a direct bus to the Castle because the area around there is pedestrianised or traffic is restricted. However I started this thread a while back https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2148764-tendering-in-newhaven-for-edinburgh-with-photos/ so it will help hopefully. Also last year a shuttle bus run by the local bus company started. It runs from the ship to the city centre and cost £4 round trip this year. https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2148764-tendering-in-newhaven-for-edinburgh-with-photos/. The details refer to this year but you'll get the idea
