NCL Cruise to Nowhere Questions

We're going to be in NY the weekend of May 6th and decided we're going to give the Dawn a test run. Yes, we've cruised many times before and yes, we know it's going to be more of a party atmosphere. My questions are:

1) Are the alternative restaurants open for lunch while boarding is taking place or do we go to the buffet like it's a normal cruise?

2) Just curious do the A1 cabins ever become available for these 1 night cruises?

3) We've read the reviews and absolutely want to give Cagney's a try for dinner. Do I go there when we board or is there a sign up table somewhere?

4) I know the casino will be open. Will the shops?

5) I assume we'll only need carry-on luggage, do people dress for dinner or is it truly relaxed?

Thanks.

At least one of the main restaurants will be open for lunch along with the buffet/cafeteria. I don't think any of the pay speciality restaurants will be open, but some of the non-pay speciality restaurants will. You already mentioned the Blue Lagoon.

Yes, the A1s do become available, ask Shoreguy about his one night cruise last year in a Garden Villa. Check out his photots, they're usually a link in his signature.

You can sign up at the main atrium for dinner reservations as soon as you board the hsip, or make a phone call from your room.

Yes, the shops will open.

You can dress up or not. Less than 50% on most cruises dress formally, I suspect there might be more for a one night cruise that do dress up. Then again, resort casual is always appropriate on NCL ships. It's really up to you to decide what you're going to wear.

Enjoy your cruise.
