scdreamer Posted January 27, 2006 #1 Share Posted January 27, 2006 We're going to be on the Wind 4/27 for the three-night repositioning cruise from SF to Vancouver - this is kind of a last-minute unplanned "extra" trip for us for 2006, as we have other trips already planned throughout the year. I see that the Wind will be coming out of SF drydock the day we embark - does anyone know what they're going to be doing to her? Basic cleaning and maintenance ... or maybe something more exciting??? I understand the Wind is an older ship - anyone have any info or suggestions for cruisers on that ship? We have cruised on newer ships, so not sure exactly what to expect. Don Haynes Posted January 27, 2006 #2 Share Posted January 27, 2006 Nothing fancy will be done on the Wind in its drydock. She has already been stretched, and will be transferred to Star Cruises soon anyway....
HLP Posted January 28, 2006 #3 Share Posted January 28, 2006 scdreamer, The Wind is much newer than Majesty and Crown. She has no atrium and no fancy decoration. What she does have is resturaunts situated on higher decks than the more modern ships. This provides great sea views while dinning. She also has good size staterooms. An excellent choice are the 176 sf CC cabins with floor to ceiling windows. I'll be on that cruise with you. I like the Wind & dream. HLP
spirit rev Posted January 28, 2006 #4 Share Posted January 28, 2006 When we were on the Wind of New Year's we were told they would be doing general maintenance and putting in the Casino while the wind was in dry dock.
scdreamer Posted January 28, 2006 Author #5 Share Posted January 28, 2006 The casino is being reinstated? Well, that's good news ... at least I think it is. (My husband may differ on that point, as I tend to leave a few of our dollars in the casinos on the cruises we take!) I was hoping they might do that. I wonder if they will also be replacing carpeting, etc in preperation for the Alaska season.
