I am looking at the Gem end of March for a cruise.  Was last on her 2015.  What can I expect of the ship.  Anyone been on her lately.  I will be doing an inside cabin.   Thank you for any info you may have.

The Gem is our favorite of all of the NCL ships....not too big, not too small. 

Friendliest crew, wonderful layout, and the rooms post the refurbishment have lovely and muted colors. 

Because it is a smaller ship, there is little waiting and easy on and off - no long lines for most events, and easy to get into shows.

There are a ton of review and youtube vidoes, but we are headed on our 3rd Gem vacation in three years, and have another one booked after this - we just love, love this ship.

Big fan of the Gem. If you were on here in 2015 not much has changed (even post refurb it was more of an update rather than anything else). Still a beautiful ship with a great crew.

Sailed the Gem 8 times. Love the size, layout, crew and entertainment! Not much changed in her last update. Mostly carpeting and decor.

Was the Deck 14 forward sundeck (the one above spinnakers, where you can look down on the bow and see the little crew pool) closed off to general pax? There have been some strange changes to the deck plans lately on the gem with the addition of a "Haven" sundeck in that forward area that didn't use to be there.

The good - great staff, excellent entertainment, very clean, stable ride

 

The bad - subpar food everywhere but buffet, lack of bar waitstaff makes for very slow 

                  bar service, dated decor, smoke filled casino, crowded sundeck
