From what port is Punta Tombo?

Punta Tombo is about 110 miles from the port of Puerto Madryn, Argentina. Shipi tours (i.e., large busses) take about 2 1/2 hours; private tours do it in less than 2 hours. It's WELL worth the trip - over 500,000 Magellanic penguins, and you walk within inches of them.

Actually, Puerto Madryn would be the only port where you could feasibly visit Punta Tombo. I'm quite surprised that your cruise ship isn't stopping there.

If you're really interested in penguins, I recommend the Seno Otway tour from Punta Arenas. If you book a private tour, you will arrive prior to the crowds from the tour busses.
