mike35 Posted January 27, 2006 #3 Share Posted January 27, 2006 Punta Tombo is about 110 miles from the port of Puerto Madryn, Argentina. Shipi tours (i.e., large busses) take about 2 1/2 hours; private tours do it in less than 2 hours. It's WELL worth the trip - over 500,000 Magellanic penguins, and you walk within inches of them. crazy4cruisn Posted January 27, 2006 Author #4 Share Posted January 27, 2006 Our ship stops in Puerto Montt, Punta Arenas, Ushuaia, Stanley, Buenos Aires, Montevideo, Rio. Where would we be able to take the Punta Tombo tour?
cruzisme Posted January 28, 2006 #5 Share Posted January 28, 2006 for P. Tombo, the nearest port is named Puerto Madryn (spellling?)
mike35 Posted January 28, 2006 #6 Share Posted January 28, 2006 Actually, Puerto Madryn would be the only port where you could feasibly visit Punta Tombo. I'm quite surprised that your cruise ship isn't stopping there. If you're really interested in penguins, I recommend the Seno Otway tour from Punta Arenas. If you book a private tour, you will arrive prior to the crowds from the tour busses. Mike
