Pacific/Hawaii: Hurricane Erick heading south of Hawaii

Expected to become a strong hurricane and then fall back to tropical storm.  Can expect rough water and surf on the south half of the Big Island.  Bears watching until passing safely south of all the islands.

Things still look the same for this storm.

I noted CNN coverage of this stated this is "heading toward Hawaii."  Hate to see when they aren't clear and it looks like they are trying to generate viewer numbers rather than be accurate.  It's still looking to pass well south of Hawaii.

Despite the alarmist reporting I saw on the NBC Nightly News, Erick is still forecast to pass well south of Hawaii bringing only some moderately windy and rainy weather with high surf.

Flossie coming in behind has a path that is a bigger concern and I will start a new thread for it.

Yes - northern hemisphere is the June to November season.

Thanks.  I was hoping that was the case.  We're going to Hawaii in March and really don't want to be there with a hurricane!
