Nothing. You tip at the end. Some people have said they think they get better service if they slip the steward a tip ahead of time and indicate there's more at the end but I always found such great service that there's no reason to pre tip.

I agree with above. Besides, you shouldn't have to tip when you get onboard the ship. Good service is expected, and, if provided (which it always has been) an appropriate tip will be coming at the end of the cruise.

Can anyone tell me what we should tip room steward when we first board?

 

I don't know how familiar you are with Princess, but your tips/gratuity are automatically added to your shipboard account ($10 per person, per day), but most people like to tip their cabin steward extra.

you'd probably get more answers if you changed the title of your post to something other than your name :)

 

if you want anything special during the week, tip 10 or 20 in the beginning. If not, don't worry about it!

 

Something special: ice buckets, robes, pillows, etc...
