Anyone ever stayed at the Hilton in Galveston??

We need a prestay hotel and I am currently reserved at the Galvez. Was wondering what the Hilton was like? Pool area specifically. I like it's location to the Rain Forest Cafe for our kids, but we want a great pool area.
Thanks.

Jen - I was one of the ones who recommended Hotel Galvez, BUT, in light of the fact that you will be traveling with children, I think being near the Rainforest Cafe would be a wonderful thing. Let us know what you decide but I vote for staying in a nice hotel like the Hilton and being near the RC. The pool area looks awesome at the Hilton. The rooms may not be as luxurious, but the kids won't notice!

The pool at the Hilton is GREAT! It's very large, and the hotel location is across the street from the Gulf of Mexico and within walking distance to a lot of restaurants. My 9 and 10 year old children love to stay there. It's a smaller complex than the Galvez, and easier to get around.

Thanks ZZ
Thats all I needed to know. I think if I can save a 100 per night, it's better spent once on the ship. (cave tubing pd for!) I just wanted a great pool, some drinks, and near fun things! I appreciate all of your comments
