MJSailors Posted August 5, 2019 #26 Share Posted August 5, 2019 That is disappointing news, martincath. I didn’t note the date of the video on YouTube. It must have been made a number of years ago. I was interested because awhile ago,my DH and I were thinking of the Rocky Mountaineer trip through the Canadian Rockies. Unfortunately, he does not do well with elevation changes. If we were ever to take another Alaskan cruise, I thought that short train trip would give us a taste of travel by rail in the Pacific Northwest. So, I would think Amtrak or renting a car would be good advice to the OP.

Easiest car rental ever! Get off ship, gather luggage, go down to garage, get in rental car & off you go; just wonderful. We did have a substantial delay at the border ( it was a Friday) but we enjoyed the ride. The rental car cost us a total of $48USD for two with luggage. We have used Quick Shuttle a few times. Traffic can be bad on I5. In Oct I was planning to over night in Vancouver and take the morning train at 5:30am. We might now take the evening 5:45pm train from Vancouver to Kings Station after our cruise, then cab it home from the train station.
