firecapt25 Posted August 14, 2019 #1 Share Posted August 14, 2019 Has anyone taken the NCL excursion from Quebec to Montreal Airport it's 6 hours and has some stops built in but cost $159.00. But we have NCL transfer for $35.00 already booked with our NCL free air promo. Is the excursion worth the extra money and is there anything to do around Montreal airport. snirpville Posted August 14, 2019 #2 Share Posted August 14, 2019 There is a small mall near the airport but nothing really to do nearby. The drive from Quebec City to Montreal will be at minimum 3 hours depending on traffic in both cities and construction as well. What does the excursion say about what you will do during those 6 hours?
firecapt25 Posted August 14, 2019 Author #3 Share Posted August 14, 2019 Quebec to Montreal Ending at Montreal Airport DETAILS 0 Reviews Write a Review 6 hrs Estimate Duration Debark Your excursion begins at the pier in Quebec City where you’ll board your coach for a comfortable 3 hour ride to the quaint island city of Montreal. Halfway through your ride, you’ll make a 30 minute rest stop at a sugar shack in Trois Riviere, where you’ll have an opportunity to see a demonstration and tasting of maple taffy, as well as to stretch your legs and use the facilities. Upon your arrival to Old Town you can set off to explore this historical district on you own. There are certain attractions here that you won’t want to miss. Place d'Armes, the heart of the city offers a striking historical panorama. Here all the periods of Montreal's past are gathered in one place, around a monument dedicated to the city's founders. This section features the oldest standing building in Montreal, the huge church of the city's mother parish, the head office of the country's oldest bank and the city's first skyscraper. At the inviting Place Jacques-Cartier you’ll discover an appealing spot for people-watching, shopping and relaxing in the sun. Right up until the 1950s, the Bonsecours Market, the city’s central marketplace, was open two days a week. Even today, the flower vendors and the artists' easels are discreet reminders of this earlier role. Montréal's oldest street, Rue Saint Paul has regained its former vibrancy and Rue St. Jacques reveal’s Montréal's version of Wall Street. For the piece de resistance, however, be sure to leave plenty of time to fully explore the Notre Dame Basilica, one of North America's largest and most historic cathedrals. Everything about this church is bigger-than-life. We highly recommend you step inside the Basilica! Completing your self-guided walking tour of enchanting Old Town, you’ll board your transportation and continue your drive to the Montreal Trudeau Airport. Pandot Posted August 15, 2019 #4 Share Posted August 15, 2019 Montreal airport is in the middle of the west of the island, a highly residential area with little to “do”. The excursion is stopping at a sugar shack (woohoo Maple syrup everything) and in old Montreal. The transfer is just that - 3 hours from Quebec to Montreal. Not a bad price for a 3 hour drive. Bonobochick Posted August 15, 2019 #5 Share Posted August 15, 2019 So that is like 90 minutes to 2 hours in Vieux Montreal? It is doable but you wouldn't really be lingering anywhere on the tour to soak up the ambiance.

Hi I agree, but the same could be said of many cruise line excursions...too little time to see what is there. In the situation where a cruise ends in a city where you will be flying out, the more obvious idea would be to stay in either Montreal or Quebec city or both for that matter, and fly out a day or two later. Of course, if you don't have time or can't do it for any other reason, a few hours in Old Montreal is better than nothing.
snirpville Posted August 15, 2019 #7 Share Posted August 15, 2019 Old Montreal is beautiful and a better way to spend a few hours than the airport. Even just sitting on a terrace with a drink in Old Montreal is great (I wander into the city sometimes in the summer to do this). (I find it funny that they call it "Old Town")
