labgalbella Posted September 14, 2019 #1 Share Posted September 14, 2019 We are planning a transatlantic cruise eastward in April. Does it matter if we select a port or starboard cabin for a smoother ride? Thanks

It’s the location that helps (Mid ship will have less motion than forward or aft). But, if you have a balcony, one side will get early morning sun and more sun than the other. Curly-Q Posted September 14, 2019 #3 Share Posted September 14, 2019 In addition to what Kazu said, the higher up you are on the ship, the more motion you will feel. If you're prone to sea sickness, lower level cabins located midship will work best for you.
Mickb Posted September 14, 2019 #4 Share Posted September 14, 2019 For max sun during the day - If you are travelling east - try a starboard cabin westbound - port
Rare TriumphGuy Posted September 14, 2019 #5 Share Posted September 14, 2019 We're booked on Nieuw Statendam transatlantic in April 2020. We chose #8125, which is a Starboard verandah cabin with an extended balcony. So, hopefully we'll get sun most of the day heading east. Since part of the balcony appears to be covered I'm hoping we'll have some shade too.
wyobean Posted September 15, 2019 #6 Share Posted September 15, 2019 We always choose the lowest middle room we can get. I prefer the least amount of movement.
