no, you don't....

You can set up their cards.. so they can use them for room keys, but without charging privledges.

You can either have them blocked from making any purchases or you can just add them on to your CC. You can check their purchases on Funvision if your ship offers it.

We just put our kids on our CC and told them no purchases over $10.00 without checking with us first and we didn't have any problems. About the only thing they did purchases were virgin drinks and maybe a bag of chips from the gift shop.

It really is up to you how to handle this. It mainly comes down to trust with your kids. Are they the type that buy everything, well then don't allow any purchases on their cards. If they are the type to be very economical about purchases, give them a limit without checking with you first.

Just go and have a wonderful cruise!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thanks for your help. I like the idea about giving them max purchase amount. I would like for them to do that since they understand about the value of money. This would bring up another concern though. That would be the loss of the card. There I may have an issue. Though they are good kids, this is their first cruise and it won't take much for them to get distracted with all the goings on and misplace the card. If it had a slot like a corporate ID does, than they could wear it around their neck on a lanyard

If you take their cards to the pursers desk, they will punch a hole in the cards and you can put them on a lanyard. We did this with ours and it worked out great!

You can also put fountain cards on there if you purchase them for the kids also.

To continue with the previous message. We were on Legend 3/20 and along with the pursers desk, the casino and camp carnival have the hole punchers. The necklaces with carnival or camp carnival logos are $4.50 in the gift shop. I even bought one for me because it was so convenient to put it around your neck when you went somewhere- especially getting off at the ports. About losing the cards, My son did. Supposedly forgot it in the token machine in the arcade. The pursers desk cancelled the first card and issued a new one beginning in the 9000's and watched for the other one to be used so they could possibly catch a thief- but thankfully for us (and them) it never occurred.
