Buying a Hammock in Costa Maya?

I see passangers with these all the time. How do these hammocks work since they are hand made. I think I saw one where you just sit in it, and then a big one you lay on.

 

Please explain how they are fastened to tree or whatever. Are they sturdy and worth the buy? How much are they normally, and will they barter with you in Costa Maya?

 

I am thinking of getting the one you sit in, but I cant figure out where to hang it!!!!
