Since it’s a weekday, I’d try to stay on as long as possible and try to miss some of the rush hour traffic.

Thats what were leaning toward.  We're going to make it later & possibly carry luggage off.

Thanks everyone.  It was helpful.

We will be arriving on the GEM in Feb and have NCL transportation to the Newark Airport. Do they treat this like a tour where you meet somewhere on the ship and go off in a group? - do they pile your luggage in a different area?  We are also in a suite and in the past have been escorted off the ship via one of the crew exits or via a separate line.

By carrying my own luggage off- I had a few instances where I was off 7:45 it was very quick to get to the curb and made a 9:00am bus ; however getting off first involves getting up super early, a quick breakfast and waiting in line.

I might experiment and just wait as late as possible next time or put my luggage out the night before and go in a medium group.

From waiting to get on the ship; it seems those leaving from the prior week around 10:30 or so had it right in the sense that it was more leisurely disembarking.

Here is a tip I have been on  the escape 5 times you can get off faster by getting on line at the aft of the ship exit line at the NYC pier. It is a shorter walk to the escalators down to customs.

I noticed that but it was too late - I was already on the pier.
