Markanddonna Posted November 10, 2019 #1 Share Posted November 10, 2019 I'm an experienced cruiser and have traveled to Europe a number of times, so I doubt there will be a huge difference between the two experiences on MSC. A few I can think of are the different languages for announcements, perhaps more European/Italian foods, etc. Anything else? BTW- I don't consider one country or culture more rude than another. I've seen plenty of people from all over the world cutting in line, etc. I am very much looking forward to the Grandiosa! Thanks.
welshy74 Posted November 10, 2019 #2 Share Posted November 10, 2019 There will be a few but not so many. Onboard currency will be Euro, not USD. Due to so many different languages on board, the entertainment will be more visual rather than spoken. Queuing, embarkation etc can be a bit messy and chaotic. Less focus on tipping. Some changes in food and beverage choices. Late sitting is always the most popular Can’t think of much else
mickey89 Posted November 13, 2019 #3 Share Posted November 13, 2019 * - Med cruises tend to operate like a Ferry service where almost at every port of call people embark and disembark. Consequently the Muster Drills announcements become an absolute pain with the numerous languages and tend to coincide with evening dining time. * - Med cruise ports of call tend to be industrial ports and definitely not that scenic, getting out of the port costs much more in shuttle charges than in the Caribbean. * - Weather in the Med more unpredictable than the sunny Caribbean. * - MSC cruises out of Barbados, Martinique and Guadalupe have no sea days which may appeal or not !
