We’ll be cruising out of San Juan on the Freedom.. What’s the estimated taxi cost to pier?

Update on Uber in San Juan.  We can confirm that there is now Uber from the Luis Munoz International Airport.  We were told it started about 2 weeks before our arrival....we arrived October 26, 2019.  We are still sailing.

At the airport baggage claim, there was a sign on the wall pointing to the "Shareride".  We followed it and it took us UP to the ground floor.  There was a designated area (we exited at Terminal B) and an airport employee helping passengers who chose to use Uber.  Our Uber driver showed up in less than 2 minutes.

Note: We knew it would be a short ride because we stayed at Embassy Suites at the airport/Isla Verde.

It took less than 10 minutes to get to the hotel...cost $9, including tip. It's not much less than a taxi but we wanted to see if Uber actually picked up FROM the airport....now we can confirm it does.

 

From Embassy Suites, we again used Uber.  Again, it only took a couple of minutes when our driver showed up.  From the hotel to the Pan American Pier, it took us approximately 15 minutes without traffic...cost was $7.  Note: There is currently no designated "drop-off/pick-up" area at the Pan American Pier.  We were dropped off at the parking lot, just across the street from the terminal. We'll be using Uber this weekend and report back where they will pick us up at the Pan American Pier.

Interesting. We just got back on Dec 17th from Freedom of the Seas and paid, $17.41 (Uber XL) for our trip from the pier to Southwest terminal.  Still about $10.00 cheaper than taxi.

Taxi fare from cruise terminals to airport is $19 + $1 per piece of luggage. If a taxi charges you more than that, you can report them for not following the published rates.

We had four suitcases and they quoted us I believe $25.00 plus $1 per bag.
