Parking

What are the advantages or disadvantages of parking at the port vs. parking at a hotel that offers free transportation to the ship? Some hotels offer free parking while your're gone (if you've stayed with them) and I'm trying to figure out if that wouldn't be a better option than paying for parking at the port???

The basic advantage is cost. In Nov. we stayed at hotel in Port Canaveral. They even had a shuttle bus and trailer for luggage to & from the port. They had a parking lot just for people cruising and there was no cost for this. For new years we sailed from Charleston, SC. Parking at the port was $15 a day. We went down day before, stayed in very nice HOJO's for $47. Then took $5 cab ride to ship. Sunday we are leaving our car at a car rental place in Fort Lauderdale for $6 a day. They will take us to & from the port free. Port parking there is $12.50 per day. We drive from NC so we do not want to be worn out by driving all day so always stay at least close to the port the day before. At most port parking, you go could steal any car and just drive off. No one asks for ID leaving, just $$$.
