John319a Posted December 6, 2019 #1 Share Posted December 6, 2019 Hi everyone, We are thinking of going on the Poesia. I am sensitive to smoke. Does the smoke travel outside of the casino or out into other areas of the ship or promenade deck? Are there any other smoking areas inside the ship? thank you! perakcruiser Posted December 6, 2019 #2 Share Posted December 6, 2019 No and it very easy to avoid the very limited smoking areas.
emmas gran Posted December 6, 2019 #3 Share Posted December 6, 2019 From my experience there is smoking area around the pool deck on ships we have been on so it is probably the same on Poesia. Friends recently on board said there was a lot of smoky areas.

If I can add to my post--the cruise our friends did was Barcelona to Canaries and back, so quite a few Europeans (Spain,France and Italy) they don't seem to be so adverse to smoking as other countries

Just stay on the starboard side of the pool and avoid walking through the casino on Deck 7 when moving from one end of the ship to the other. mimmy52 Posted December 7, 2019 #6 Share Posted December 7, 2019 I was recently on the Poesia, and Bpmsmith is right. There's one area in the casino where smoking is allowed, but it permeates the whole casino so avoid walking through. I didn't find the smoke to penetrate outside the casino and I am sensitive to smoke too. There's also an area on the pool deck, port side, near the ping pong tables if I recall, and that's a smoking area too, but it wasn't obvious at the tables closer to the buffet area. Toward the end of our cruise, there was a passenger two cabins away who decided he could smoke his cigar on the balcony. The smell permeated our room and we had to close our balcony doors. When we returned from our excursion, he was smoking again so I complained to guest services. That seemed to take care of it.

Thanks for the informative reply - I'd never heard directly about the smoking situation from someone that's been on it. I heard something about a few of the lounges allowing smoking. Is this true? A few others I just walked through and didn’t notice smoke. There is a cigar room but I didn’t notice a smell the times I passed it (they kept that door closed).
