It is unfortunate that Princess is calling this "Wi-Fi" when what they mean is "Internet". Wi-Fi and Internet are not the same thing. Wi-Fi is merely a network protocol for wirelessly connecting a device to a network. A network reached via Wi-Fi may or may not be connected to the Internet.

This is so that princess can claim "Best WiFi at sea!"

A relatively meaningless boast.

"SANTA CLARITA, Calif. (March 4, 2019)  Princess Cruises, the world’s largest international premium cruise line, announced that MedallionNet,

the best WiFi at sea, will soon be enjoyed by guests sailing on more than half of its fleet."

Additionally, Royal Caribbean's Voom and Princess' Medallion Net have the same satellite provider.
