Room With A Roll Away????????????

Recommended Posts

We just found out our room is 2 beds with one upper and a roll away for my sister and I and our 2 teenage daughters. Isn't this going to be cramped? We are sailing o the Fantasy. Talked to Carnival said there's nothing we ca do even though our vacation specialist at Carnival promised us 2 beds with 2 uppers. Has anyone stayed in a room with a roll away and was there enough room?????

If you wanted a room with 2 beds and 2 uppers, you should have booked it, they are clearly marked on the carnival web site. Otherwise you are at Carnival's mercy, and now you don't like it.

we had three people on the inspiration, 2 lowers and a roll away. It was rather cramped, but at least they folded the bed up each day so there was more room in the daytime, but then if i wanted to take a nap that meant i had to fix the bed. Not sure if they still do the same thing nowadays

When the reservation was originally made was it made as a "guarantee" or room assignment? If a guarantee, you are at their mercy regardless of what you were told. If a cabin assignment, as another poster stated, quad cabins are clearly marked on deck plans.....

this is just a suggestion... not sure if you are tall , large or small-- but i would say you could easily sleep with 2 adults and a teenager on the two bottom beds put together?? we have done it and it worked just fine.... they put the two twins together and it is just like a king size bed... i would definitely try this before dealing with a roll away!!!

This, too, is happening to me and my family. I guess we are at the mercy of CCL. I also think its sad instead of Cruise Critic people offereing friendly advice they offer rude and hateful remarks. I know you were just asking a friendly question if anyone stayed in a room with a rollaway bed and got the "Sucks to be U" - Good luck in your search/answers :D

Most first time cruisers are not aware that the possiblity of getting a roll away on their cruise-- theyjsut figure we all will get one bed.

To the original poster.-- yes the roll away will take up space. What we did was told the steward to get rid of the bed and leave the mattress. which we put under thebed during the day.

Hopefully youwont need the twin beds put together as that will take up lots of space. Keep the bottom beds apart against the walls (L Shape ) so the middle of the floor will have space for the mattress.

Also take an over the door shoe holder. (especially with 4 females in acabin with all the bathroom stuff 4 women need) it will be the best investment for your cruise.

Think about taking showers in the gym/spa area instead of the cabin or you willbe spending precious cruise time getting ready for dinners.

Seems that it is always the new guy that gets these cabins. You think you've gotten the deal of a lifetime...you arrive in your cabin for 3 only to find that there are only 2 lowers. You call the information desk, explain that you got the wrong cabin...and find that you will have a rollaway bed in and out every night. You think...OK, I can live with that...until you come back from dinner and find the bed has been made up. There is NO ROOM to even walk.

How do I know all this??? This was my experience about 8 years ago. Luckily my Mom decided to join us at the last minute and had her own balcony cabin - I ended up letting one of my daughters stay in her cabin so that we did not have to put up with the rollaway.

I have sinced learned many things about cruising. Yes I pay more, but I also enjoy it more.

My advice...if you can still upgrade, DO IT. Especially with 2 teenaged girls.

Yep, this is correct. We booked the cabins we wanted for our Spring Break cruise. I know exactly what I'm getting. That's why I pay more for my room than you do with a guarantee. So, since you paid less, you can't complain.

So if you insult back twice you feel better???

"Hateful" I don't believe there was hate in my comment, "Sucks to be U" was from the other post with the identical inquiry, they were not my words.

And as far as being helpful, please read through my posts, I give WAY more than I take, I have posted maps and drawings of ports - annotated photographs of ships to show people what they will experience posted scanned copies of all the Capers from my Liberty cruise, menus, and photos.

I did not call someone a jerk and I was not judging whether someone was rude or not - so what does that make me in comparison to you?

The point to the OP - Caveat Emptor - Carnival provided accomodations for four people and they are not happy, the ship room maps are VERY CLEAR, if you want a room with four beds book one. New people that read this will benefit from my information in spite of you judging the information as rude or me being a jerk - glad you know me so well!

we have cruised over 10 times with 4 people to a room. Our family of four (two sons 17 and 14) had never had a problem with the "rollaway". Actually what we have always gotten is a fixed frame with a mattress. (not the flimsy mattress kind). They place it so that the foot of the bed is under the vanity.

We always book this kind of room because 14 year old can't sleep in an upper.

With it being all girls...you will have more problem with "bathroom time" than sleeping comfortable.

You will be fine!!

Have a great cruise!
