Earliest to drop luggage with Porters

Hi, 

 

We are scheduled to land EARLY at SJU -- 5:30 am on the day the cruise embarks. We are on the Carnival Fascination at the pier in Old San Juan. From your experience, what is the earliest we can check our luggage with the porters? What other options?

 

We were hoping to store luggage and explore OSJ. It looks like the restaurant that will store luggage does not open until 9am or even 11am on Sunday, when we will there, and that the other luggage storage place closed in 2009.

The restaurant you are probably referring to is Barrachinas & yes they hold luggage starting at 9am 7 days a week at no charge (tips are welcomed).  I believe the earliest you

can drop off luggage with the porters is 11am.  I would recommend going to Barrachinas early & just have breakfast or coffee until the luggage locker opens.  Not much is open on Sundays in OSJ until 9am (forts) and 11am (shopping).  The Uber cost from Barrachinas to the Fascination port is about $5 or you can walk your luggage the half mile or so but the cobblestone roads are pretty rough to cross.
