Direction Differences

We are planning to take the Mediterranean and Adriatic Sojourn in 2022.  There appear to be differences in the duration of port stops depending on the direction of travel.  Specifically in Naples, travelling east the port stop is 5 hours but travelling toward the west the stop is closer to 9.  It seems natural that this would affect the availability of excursions.  Has anyone seen this on this or other cruises and is it relevant?

Yes, it does happen and the relevance is strictly a matter of personal preference and expectations for the trip.  We are generally on a tight time line so we are more concerned with dates than direction but if you watch there will be a myriad of opinions.
Having been on two cruises that included Naples I would think that the 9 hour stop would certainly make more excursions available to choose from. Naples generally had lots of options.

Also keep in mind that schedules And itineraries might be different or change from cruise to cruise .  We booked the British Isles cruise a couple of years ago and they dropped Liverpool after we booked and replaced it with Glasgow.  It was just that cruise that experienced the change and despite the disappointment we enjoyed the cruise immensely.
