Juliadlf Posted February 5, 2006 #1 Share Posted February 5, 2006 We are looking at a flight coming back from Copenhagen to Newark/Liberty and then we have a connection onward. The time between flights in Liberty-Newark is 1 hour 20 minutes. Haven't been flying out/in Liberty-Newark in a long time so any comments on how much time for immigration/customs in Liberty-Newark for incoming international flights? Thanks Julia
JJPNYC Posted February 5, 2006 #2 Share Posted February 5, 2006 That should be plenty of time. If Continental is selling it as a legal connection (which it sounds like they are), that means that it is doable. Continental is not too spread out at EWR so you should be fine. Juliadlf Posted February 5, 2006 Author #3 Share Posted February 5, 2006 Yes, they did sell this as a connection for our flight home so it sounds like it would be okay. Thanks. Julia
kyriecat Posted February 6, 2006 #4 Share Posted February 6, 2006 I would be very nervous about only having an hour 20 minutes to make a connection and go through customs. You have to collect you bags, go through customs, then re-check your bags. I haven't tried this going through Newark, but I have spent over an hour waiting in Miami to get through customs. This was in addition to waiting over 30 minutes just to get the bags from the conveyor. We had 2.5 hours between flights, but we still ended up running through the corridors. I've had a similar experience with Atlanta. I would recommend calling Continental to see what happens to your connecting flight if you miss it due to customs.
