Geirangerfjord Questions

Planning a ferry up and back for late Sept-early Oct.  Can we expect to be able to go into Geirangerfjord, or is that late enough that weather may be an issue?  If we miss it going up is there still a chance on the return? Are all of the ferries able to go into the fjord, or are some too large?  Is there a port stop in the fjord, and, if so, about how long in port?

If you are asking specifically about Hurtigruten, their ships (all of them) sail into Geirangerfjord only until the end of August. In September and October, they will sail instead in Hjørundfjord (same fjord system), which is IMO at least as beautiful. This sailing is done only in the Northbound trip, on the 2d day (full day after the departure from Bergen and the first night onboard), not in the other direction. The ships stop at the end of the fjord in Urke, where you can disembark for a walk (nice little village), there is also a bus excursion organized to go see Geirangerfjord by land. The stop is for 3,5 hours.

You can check the sailing plan here : https://www.hurtigruten.com/practical-information/sailing-plan/?season=Autumn
