If you haven't been to San Francisco yet I would rent a car for the day and sightsee around the city. We were there a few years ago and there is a self guided tour that you can find online that was very good it was approx. 20 different locations to visit. Also Muir Woods is amazing. Then a nice place for dinner.

Have you been to San Francisco before? You have many, many options in the city to explore touristy sites or knick-knacks within the city and its many districts. If you want to and are comfortable doing so, find a place to securely drop off your luggage and have it stored before you pick it back up to go to the airport (I'm sure others will pitch in about a place they recommend). If you've never been, take a stroll down Embarcadero and get a feel for the Fisherman's Wharf area and Pier 39. You can chill and find a place to eat (use Yelp/TripAdvisor if you want to try and avoid the touristy eatery hotspots) and then relax on your disembarkation day to avoid extra stress.

You can also take a hop-on/hop-off bus if that interests you and it gives you a quick and easy tour of the city. If you're up for the challenge, you can also try a bike tour. Not to mention, you can try and see if there's a spot in an Alcatraz tour (reserve spots now if you're interested), visit many of the city's museums, etc. Let us know how familiar you are with SF, what type of activity level you're interested in, or if you just wanted to know of quick ways to get around SF and to the airport to relax. Hope this helps a little!

You can store your luggage at Pier 39:    https://www.pier39.com/merchant/california-welcome-center/

There is a lot to see by foot... you can ride the cable cars... or visit Alcatraz ( Highly recommended ), have lunch in China town and peruse their shops, visit the cable car museum, visit the Fortune Cookie factory in Ross Alley, get ice cream at Ghirardelli Chocolate, check out the street artists. visit the Hide Street Pier ( A national Park ) and tour the old sailing ship there.

Plenty to do on foot in San Francisco.
