Blue Chip Casino

I read the post recently about how the Celebrity ship casinos are stacked heavily for the house but I usually go in there and burn $20 somewhere along the way during a cruise. I recently got an email from M-Life (which I signed up for..why?..cuz I could, I guess) saying I was in the Sapphire tier. So, I looked up the benefits. What does the $500 in free  chips mean? They’re just gonna hand me $500 to gamble away? Seems kinda crazy but, hey.....

And, I have no idea how I went from Pearl to Sapphire.

Are you saying you are Sapphire when you login to M Life? If so, that is your M Life tier not your Blue Chip tier. It may be confusing but M Life Sapphire is their entry level tier, Blue Chip Sapphire is the 2nd highest tier and it takes quite a bit of time/money in the casino to reach that tier. There is no where you can log in to find you Celebrity Blue Chip status, you would have to call Blue Chip.

Casino on the edge are tight, currently on the ship.

also it is missing the usual casino buzz we r used to..

Casino's are "tight", cruise industry wide, nothing exclusive to the Edge.

1)  For slots, the average "payback" is about 80% cruise ship wide, it's about a 90% average at land based casinos

2)  For table games and VP, most games are stripped of player friendly odds/rules, all games can be affected but for example, you won't find 3:2 blackjack tables or VP machines.  However, compared to land based casinos, while favorable games/odds can be found, often only a small minority these player friendly tables/machines exist and are often occupied

3)  Each cruise line has their own casino/comp pros and cons, X's pros are they often offer $5 of free play in the late morning, they allow you to buy casino chips in advance at a discount, they're the only line I'm aware of that has single-zero roulette (CCL has triple 0 tables) and they have a strong partnership with MLife.  The cons are, unlike NCL, on comped offers, they do not include "perks" and X will not allow OBC from the stock holder benefit
