I was going to say the same, I am a water hoarder and I'm sure the primary purpose of this rule is to prevent folks from hoarding drinks
-
Thanks. Interestingly, they set up entertainment events, predominantly for corporate events. They use entertainers, a couple I've seen on X in the past so perhaps Eddy is leveraging his past X relationships. Absolutely nothing wrong with that
-
Corporate would create the rule, you could "bribe" the bartenders with tips and hopefully get them to break the rules. X's enforcement of this rule (which will probably happen) is a separate debate altogether
-
Yes. In the past (I haven't tried since the pandemic) X was very liberal with allowing someone to not have the drink package if they called in and claimed they were sober or some other medical reason; that was the exception, not the rule

Q: How to find special event cruises?
NutsAboutGolf replied to TGfromTX's topic in Celebrity Cruises
This is X charter website but I don't believe they list a schedule; it's possible some companies who charter may want to remain private but that's just my guess. Additionally, the actual charter may be booked by a corporate entity that has nothing to do with the theme. For example, if you book with Rock and Romance, your credit card transaction may state something completely unrelated like "ABC Entertainment LLC": https://www.celebritycorporatekit.com/onboard-experience/event-venues/ You have X-themed sailed like the Presidents and Goop brand cruises then you have charters which can be partial or full. On a partial charter, you can book a room directly through X but won't be able to participate in the charter activities unless the chartering company is willing to allow you onto it's events -
Have laundry done every sailing since becoming elite. It comes back folded but it's because the bag shape kind of crushes the perimeter of the clothing
-
It appears the rule hasn't made its way to X yet but when it does, someone will inevitably say "If you don't like the change, sail on a different line!!!" RCG = Parent company RCI = Cruise line

My take on the Premium Access Program
NutsAboutGolf replied to chrismch's topic in Celebrity Cruises
The wifi is throttled down to 5mbps on X, on X's sister line RCI, you can get speeds 10x as fast -
Which airlines? (lol) X gamblers get Effy credits, it doesn't make a lot of sense but I guess they assume most gamblers are men who have significant others (SO) who may get bored when their SO gambles and goes shopping

I believe you cannot make phone calls with Basic, that's how it used to be. With an iPhone, you could only get iMessages, not regular or SMS texts which could be an issue for two-factor authentication where it texts you a code

Celebrity's IT Dept - Working hard to make your life miserable
NutsAboutGolf replied to TheHawk1's topic in Celebrity Cruises
It's rarely IT's fault, they're following management's orders -
Both Alaska and Norway have Fjords, while I'm sure it's itinerary-specific, we were in the Fjords longer on the Norway sailing than the Alaska sailing. Another way to think about it, do Alaska first then do Norway (lol). One can look at youtube videos, I have zero affiliation with this video, this just came up first when I searched Alaska cruise vs Norway cruise https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R6lliREeYdg&pp=ygUdZmpvcmQgYWxhc2thIGNydWlzZSB2cyBub3J3YXk%3D

I'll say what I always say, seriously look into a Norway cruise. It's absolutely STUNNING, the sun will be out super late and most ports are lively cities, not "cruise port cities" that shut down once all the ships leave. Our first and only pre-pandemic X sailing was Alaska, it was overall good. We did Norway in in the summer of 2023, I thought it was going to be the same as Alaska but boy was I wrong. Of my 200+ nights at sea, Norway was the most "magical" sailing; slightly beating out Greenland and Iceland due to the ports

Summit out of Puerto Rico boarding time Question
NutsAboutGolf replied to 20165's topic in Celebrity Cruises
We do the exact same and in many cases, you can board and leave the ship at other embarkation locations. However, Vancouver is one you cannot, I suspect it's because you go through passport control at the terminal -
Which cruise line, and how much was the fine?
-
At one time surge and extension cords were on the prohibited list but many were able to get them on based on FB sailing groups showing pictures. I have always got them on, the stateroom attended even tapes it to the carpet for us

12:18pm is fine

Bank of America Celebrity Credit Card
NutsAboutGolf replied to AbbyCruiser45's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Some people just like slapping down their X credit card in the restaurant bi-fold, nothing wrong with that but there are much better deals out there like the Costco card which has no annual fee and 3% cash back on travel -

Celebrity laundry and delicate-wash items
NutsAboutGolf replied to Wavedance's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Sounds like your clothing can survive hot water/dryers. We can request anything we want but it will be washed in hot water and dried with high heat. I had heard some have had luck requesting their shirts come back on hangers, I've never had luck with that despite talking to the stateroom attendant and writing it on the form -
That CAB line can be brutal on port days before they start letting people off the ship

Need to "invade" a current rollcall to find out...ha ha

Blue Chip Club Expired Offers
NutsAboutGolf replied to Gilliganluvsmaryann's topic in Celebrity Cruises
I was able to do this one time yet this was my "plan B" as all the sailings I wanted from my current/unexpired offer couldn't be booked due to reaching their comped room capacity -
Yes as Cellar Masters along with the casino bar (if the ship has one) are the only bars with TVs. I've seen a regular game (non-playoff) on MNF on the aft outdoor theater of the Millie. Some games will also be on your stateroom TV
