Casino 101 Question

I haven't been on NCL for a year and I forget "basic casino".

You put your card into the slot...and you put in cash.  Do you need to get a PIN etc? (I think so...in case you want to charge to your cabin.)

When you're done....you cash out...and get a ticket.  The proceeds don't go on your card...just the physical ticket.

Am I remembering correctly?

If you put your room key in the slot, the casino will track your play. When you’re done playing if you press the cash out button, you’ll get a ticket. You can use that ticket at other machines or you can take it to the ATM machine and get cash. If you pull your card out of the machine before you press the cash out button, remaining money will be put onto your room card. When you go to the next machine I put your room card in, you can get the cash out by entering your PIN (your birthdate).

And just an FYI..if for some reason stop playing a machine for a certain time..with card in...your money automatically goes onto the card !  This happened to me last time on the Gem..was busy talking to someone and my money was no longer displayed on my machine...!  Panic time...till attendant explained !

Machine assumes you walked away and forgot your card.  Actually....that's better than leaving it on the screen for someone else to claim.

The "pull the card, money goes in your account" routine really confused me at first. But then I realized it's for your own protection...the assumption is that you've pulled your card and walked away, possibly before collecting your ticket, which may be printed out and sitting in the machine for anyone to take....although what gambler would do that? But as a protection for the gambler, it makes sense.
