FlipperMs Posted April 27, 2004 #26 Share Posted April 27, 2004 RacerBC, I think that you did a great job on your dissertation. Too Funny! I also think that there are a lot of you who are way too hung up on this board and what other people might think, instead of looking for the shear humor of this thread. Man, get a life! fascination 5/10 Posted April 27, 2004 #27 Share Posted April 27, 2004 I agree that it was a great post... one of the best parts of cuising is people-watching, and there are all types! RabidDolly Posted April 27, 2004 #28 Share Posted April 27, 2004
quote:
(14) Ok now the serious stuff. Carnival is notorious for the three ninety niners. These are the people that find those staterooms that no one else seems to want. They cost $ 399.00 per person. These people feel that they need to take advantage of everything the ship has to offer and then some. These are the people who have not eaten in three years and make up for it in one week. These are the people who will jump in front of lines with no care what so ever. These are the same people who don’t clean up after themselves because there are “servants†on the ship to clean up after them. Believe me you will find them with no problem what so ever. Personally I make fun of them. They usually do not speak a word of English and cannot understand, or at least pretend to not understand you anyway. You can actually make a sport out of it.

I take your comment very offensively... I will be sailing for the first time in June and I booked one of the $399 rooms. I do not cut in lines and I clean up after myself. I speak English and I'm very offended that you would think yourself any better than me!!! Although I do have to say the rest of your thread was very informative. ~~Dolly Carnival Jubilee 6/2004
sgtmonz Posted April 27, 2004 #29 Share Posted April 27, 2004 hey dolly... wish the gf and i were going with you guys... we could confront chair hogs, line cutters and funnel deck perverts together... enjoy your $399.00 cruise and take plenty of pics for the rest of us... i promise i will be taking some on my cruise the week after you get back... ralmyers Posted April 27, 2004 #30 Share Posted April 27, 2004 Dolly, I would not be too offended. I think RacerBC just meant to be funny ;-) Some of that is true, but more in a satiracal way. I have been on a 399 cruise, and also paid plenty for a suite -- no biggie. Just depends more on what your budget is at the time and what you have to spend. Take things lightly on the board, and don't sweat the small stuff on the cruises. If you relax and let it all roll off off you the trip will be much more fun. Unfortunately, you will SEE plenty of jerks and obnoxious people on the cruises -- it gives you something to look at and laught at Triumph Fantasy - 94 Imagination - 95 Ecstasy - 99 Triumph -
fascination 5/10 Posted April 27, 2004 #31 Share Posted April 27, 2004 No, don't be offended. I took those comments in the spirit they were intended... just for fun. My cruise was $327 for an upper deck ocean view, and I'm not ashamed to admit I went with the deal! I do wish I could afford a balcony, but it's just not in the budget this year. I don't think it matters how much people spend... there are rude people and great people in all categories! Fascination 5/12/
RacerBC Posted April 27, 2004 Author #32 Share Posted April 27, 2004 Listen up.. For all of you having "second thoughts" about your cruise.. Come on now.. don't change your plans.. you will have a great time on Carnival. Like I mentioned, I am cruisng on Carnival in a few weeks for the third time out of my nine cruises. EVERY CRUISE LINE has its quirks.. Like I mentioned, make your cruise enjoyable. I will also say that the people who take offense to some of the things I wrote are the ones that usually complain about the spots on the carpets, the smell in the hallways, the food quality, the lines at the elevators etc. Come on people LOSEN UP! enjoy life will ya! sgtmonz Posted April 27, 2004 #34 Share Posted April 27, 2004 racer- i agree with you for the most part about losening-up and enjoying. it can be very fun to watch rude people and just shake your head at their behavior. but something i have also found to be very entertaining (besides making fun of myself which is always the best and so easy to do) is seeing those peoples faces when they are confronted during their rude behaviors. they are so used to getting away with it that when they are finally busted they just completly fall apart. and the other people around just love it. especially our senior citizens. i just love to champion them in the face of such people who cut in line in front of them or take a chair they were going to sit in just because they were a little faster and so on. i'm normally very easy going but those who are rude and those who pick on the weak... they rub my rubarb the wrong way... ok... i'll go take my pain meds and sit quietly in the corner until they take effect. tef43 Posted April 27, 2004 #40 Share Posted April 27, 2004 Chris, I'm with you. There is so much misinformation floating around these boards, it would be quite easy for a cruising rookie to take any of it at face value. Sophisticated <cough> humor such as this belongs in the Floataway Lounge at best. Tom <--- Curmudgeon of the Seas Eleven cruises so far. Up next: Shhhh, it's a surprise! And then: Carnival Spirit 12/10/05 Mexican Riviera Dance like it hurts, love like you need money, and work when somebody's watching.
sweezel Posted April 27, 2004 #41 Share Posted April 27, 2004 My first cruise will be on the Elation on May 30th, and I laughed all through Racer's post. RacerBC Posted April 27, 2004 Author #42 Share Posted April 27, 2004 "Misinformation Hmmm.. let me go over every point item by item (1) TRUE No other cruise line has the roaming videographers (2) TRUE because Carnival is the most bang for you buck, low fare cruise line where, do YOU think all the college kids go to have fun when they cruise? PLUS it has been mentioned on this thread that a lot has been done to change the image of Carnival being the "FRAT HOUSE" party boat. (3) TRUE HOT HOT HOT IS over killed on Carnival! (4) TRUE Even Carnival several years back had commercials with "the loosest slots on the oceans" (5) Hey I don't care, try it and find out for yourself. I’ll be the one laughing at the red marks on your legs (6) TRUE but I guess you can say this about any ship nowadays (7) TRUE but really sorry about that! (8) TRUE doesn't EVERY Carnival ship have a pizza bar ?? and YES you will find all the kids there after midnight. (9) TRUE but every cruise line has that feature! (10) TRUE and I am SICK of that freaking song already! (11) TRUE no need to elaborate (12) TRUE but happens on all ships.. Just ME looking out for YOU! (13) TRUE come on Carnival Cruisers admit it! Carnival does have some of the corniest contests on the seven seas. PLUS there is no other cruise line that hand out "ships on a stick" (14) TRUE but will admit that not ALL three ninety niners fit the mold. But the next time you are in line and find that rude someone who just cuts in front of everyone else and could care less, follow them back to their room for the helluva it. Then come back and post your results. I am just saving you the trouble. (15) TRUE one of the BIGGEST complaints you will hear about Carnival. HOWEVER I will say that if you notice a non-human occupied lounge chair for more than an hour or so, you can speak to a deck hand who will remove the items for you. Best do it this way so IF the villain shows up you can just say.. GO SEE HIM, he took your stuff off the chair. (16) TRUE Just ME giving YOU some advice to make your cruise more enjoyable.. Drink Up! (17) TRUE Check out the Elephants on the Fascination and the camels on the Glory. Again.. WHY ? Totally confused. (18) TRUE and the cabin Stewarts are very good at this art if I must say so myself. In fact look at most former cruisers Carnival Pictures they ALWAYS take pictures of the towel creatures! (19) TRUE unfortunately! (20) WITHOUT A DOUBT AND POSITIVELY TRUE!!!!
