Quick review of Golden

Went on Golden form Janm 28 to Feb 4

 

First time on Princess 5 other cruises on Carnival 1 HAL

Both are 51

Wifes first cruise kids went with me other cruises

Booked last minute 360 for inside

 

Saturday

Got there at 4:00 no line ups filled up on booze in carry on at duty free in terminal.

Show ok

 

Sunday

 

Went to town did shopping bit then did lunch on boat then pool deck lots of chairs.

Supper had steak tasted liked liver.

Casino played slots seemed to be no problem getting nickels even pennies with a little wait.

 

Monday

 

Got up early to do tour of St Kitts but didn't stop here due to high winds

or something.

Extra at sea day

Tried some bannana and chocolate drink with kaluha 3 shots in large

$8,00 for large oh so good.

Still seemed to be lots of deck chairs but very little pool activities

 

Tuesday

 

Grenada

Went and walked around town for a hour or so. Used internet pretty fast and cheap $1 for 15 minutes

Went to Grand Anse beach by water taxi $ 3 each way good for afternoon.

Even had a ice cream truck pull up to beach you will hear song {good humour Man }

 

Wendsday

 

Isla walked to end of beach by dock crossed to a small sand bar and saw a dolphin corpse and sponges some nice shells

Local beer good in store across from stalls $5 for six pack took 3 back on boat no problem.

 

Thursday

 

Aruba

 

Did Atlantis Submarine 100 dollars but well worth it.

Casino's actual gave money back here

Even wive got tired of Diamonds International

By far nicest Island

At sea

 

I was amazed not even a single pool game or activity just a Ice carving demonstration

 

Saturday

 

Disembark

Had a 1:00 pm flight so got off boat at 9:20 took cab to airport and stood in line at Continental for 45 minutes to check in

Then a yellow alert so another 1:45 minutes to clear customs

Worst Airport experience in Life and I fly a lot.

Food was good not any better or worse than Carnival really like anytime Dining.

Entertainment was pretty standard but no late comic shows (missed them

as Sarge is the best when he is X rated )

Day activities were Pathetic it was if they didn't want to wake up people sleeping in deck chairs.

Puerto Ricans on board made a small difference by having at least one of the showrooms every night. But all were very polite and enjoyed the different culture standard.

Itenerary was good but NOT a boat if your in your thirties or younger.

 

Overall it was a very relaxing cruise liked the weather will give Princess one more try with the Classic Southern next January on the New Crown Princess .

The daytime activities were a lot different on this ship than on my previous cruises on the Dawn Princess. On the Dawn, there were many midday activities around the pool with various games, etc... Most of the poolside activities on the Golden were late in the afternoon during nap time, so we usually missed them.

We have sailed Princess many times in the past so it will be interesting to see what the daytime activity is like on this itinerary. Perhaps the activity is at a minimum due to the port intensity? I'm interested in going to Grand Anse beach in Grenada.....are there facilities there? Places to change, a bathroom and somewhere to catch a bite to eat?

Yes tender to Isla but very quick. Maybe 10 minute wait max

Yes booked last minute Dec 10 with Princess I do every year with about

6 weeks on a wednseday or thursday prices seem to be lowest

I dont really care where or when i go so i just check twice a day around Dec 1St till i find something

Last week in January allways seems lowest.
