St. Petersburg Theatre recommendations?

We are wanting to spend one evening at the Ballet or Opera has anyone any experience of the following theatres? ...any advice?

 

Ballet:

Marlinsky (Kirov)

Musorgsky

Theatre of Musical Comedy

Conservatorium Theatre

 

Opera:

St Petersburg Opera Theatre

 

What is the expected dress code in the theatres?

Mariinsky theater is certainly the best one in St. Petersburg, some say it is even better than the Bolshoi theater in Moscow. Mussorgsky opera and ballet theater would be my second choice. It is customary to dress formally in the theaters, however, the dress code is not very strict.
